Celtic invited back to NextGen Series

After coming third in the toughest NextGen Series group Celtic have been invited back for Next season's tournament.
It was confirmed today through the official Celtic website and Chris McCart (head of youth) said:
“We are very excited about it,” he told the official Celtic website. “I think it’s been a great experience for us, playing against Barcelona Marseille and Manchester City."
“We had a taste of it last year and we all really enjoyed it. It was great for the players, and what was fantastic was the first-team management could come and watch the players in action, and we´ve seen more young players made their debut this year for the first-team."
It was a very tough group to go through, Barcelona and Marseille have fantastic youth setups and Manchester City have recently invested millions into their youth. Celtic were beaten 1-0 away by Marseille on the opening night, Barcelona beat Celtic 3-1 and 5-1 but Celtic managed to beat Man City twice and Marseille 3-0 at home.
It should be a fantastic new competition for football which will allow us to compare our youth to some of the best youngsters in the world and not just the ones from Scotland.
I enjoyed our run in the NextGen Series, lets hope next season we make it out of the group stages.

Having no reserve league in the backwaters of scottish football really says it all dont you think?
Even if it was introduced again it would be the same as before, hammer throwers targetting a footballer, as i remember the old reserve leagues, and all that was missing from most was a miners helmet.
I would like to see Celtic entering a 2nd string team into the 3rd division, obviously we could'nt get promotion into the top division, but we could win the 2nd and 3rd division of the prospective league's, and a good turn-out to watch the 2nd team is a way of helping our expenditure.
The future seems bright ..........................thanks Fergus and God bless you.
